day 7

On Sunday I went with my aunt to National Technical Museum. She went with me as she never was here before and wanted to finally see it. We took a tram on Zeliveskho, on the way I saw another fabric store but it was closed and I had to wait to go to it next day.

The admission price was good given the amount of exhibition it had. First we went to photography exhibit which was really comprehensive though I wish they had some more digital cameras... only early one they had was Olympus Camedia C400L from what I remember. I liked the PowerMac G3 on display, it was fun to see one in person after years. Photography exhibit connected into one about chemistry and one more about I forgot... Chemistry one was in type of "things around us" which I like. After this we went to the main hall which houses cars, trains, motorbikes and bikes and planes. The car floor felt lacking as it was mostly pre-war cars. More modern cars displayed were Prague ambulances. They literally had a G-Wagon as an ambulance up to 2002, it was helpful during 2002 floods for sure.

On the next floor there were two exhibitions, household appliances over the years which I loved, it was totally my thing. It features household appliances since mid 19th century to modern ones. Only disappointing thing was not a good amount of sewing machines, the newest one was from the 1950s. There was modern Czech design part, it included a lot of designs from early 00s. Unfortunately my cameras died and I had to use my phone to take photos. The other room on this floor had a printing related exhibition, I felt it skewed too much towards earlier systems and it lacked on anything from mid century to 90s. There was a phototypesetting machine on display, it was more new one and it was really huge.

Another floor had an astronomy exhbition through we just passed quickly, before going to a temporary exhibit about medicine, mostly Czech achievements in medicine. There was also one hall about sugar refining with model of entire refinery. The top, 4th, floor has television studio (closed) and architecture. Architecture was again, more heavy on 19th and early 20th century. I saw original Barcelona chairs on display, also many buildings around the Prague had their models here. Many of them were marked with symbol indicating they suffered during the 2002 floors.

In the end we went to undergound floors which house metallurgy and mining exhibition. I wanted to see them despite not being really interested in these topics, just seeing the progression of technology is so interesting... When we went out my legs hurt so badly, we walked a lot.

After we left the Museum my aunt told me about one stadium that is a bit away from it, she told me that in 1989 when people went to protest, there were crowds even in this exact spot we were. She told me that she went herself to protest with my 2,5 year old cousin. Based.

Later this day I went to take pictures of Flora and Hradcanska station like a train autist takes pictures of trains. On Flora I went to mall connected to it, but it was disappointing. Took the pictures, thought about going out somewhere but I didn't want to.
