thursday, 21th november

I'm back at carpooling with my co-worker. I asked her today to drop off me earlier and I went to Ms. B and I ended up being at her place for almost 4 hours. I just came back like 2 hours ago (as of time of writing this entry) Her old cat's ear infection got better. I talked with her about various topics and she asked me for help if I had any pattern for a hip bag in my burdas. I found one, at first I thought it was in 9/1999 or later, but it was in 8/1999. Anyway, one nice lady she knows came in and I ended up talking with her about old magazines. She was born in 1967 so she was one who really experienced here and told me that she religiously bought Twój Styl because it was so good, fashion was totally western (meaning actually fashionable). She told me about that in the north of the country, on a pennisula at the Baltic Sea there are tons of newsagents where you can get old magazines. I'll try it when I'll have money to go here. Maybe it will be a chance to complete my collection? I want that dreaded Uroda or Twój Styl issues, missing Elle and Pani.

I actually got ton of new Elle issues from Vinted for super cheap. One bundle was in bit worse shape on covers, many duplicates (I need to check them too, will be keeping them until I'll have a friend irl I could give them to), but inside only one issue had fully missing page. I think it was owned by older sister of woman I bought from, who was a teen back then. There was 1984 birth year in some coupons, which weren't cut off! She probably xeroed them to not cut them out, she cared for them since they costed a lot, for average teen back then. I got some from other woman, including Cosmo and Marie Claire (I didn't know it was here too! Can't find any information about this, it's start date and end date of publication). Even if I hate moid pandering covers of Cosmo, I regret not buying these full years (1997-2001 I think) for cheap. It's both scalped by coomer moids for some celeb on cover and zoomerettes might go for it, but fashion content was miniscule and it was like 2/3 of Elle or Twój Styl. Lighter in content than Pani or Uroda which had similar volume. Marie Claire was fine, I wish I had of it more too...

I caved in and bought eyelid primer from Inglot. It's so good that it make mediocre eyeshadow last all day on my oily, hooded eyelids. But still, I didn't consoom any other makeup. I might just mix my moisturizer with my foundation for light coverage. But this means I'd have to get cream blush to skip powder. I'm running out of powder so I'll try one from Inglot, better be good after that not good concealer. At this point I barely use my powder and my Lash Power and eyebrow pencil from Clinique are my most basic makeup I do daily. I like myself with filled in eyebrows (in old school way, filling in missing hairs) since half of my eyebrows, the outer parts has less hairs and is very light and dying wouldn't fix it. Mascara, after I cleaned my brush, is nicer on my eyes or I think my eyes being so weird is due to screen exposure and not enough of light at work in the office (cutting costs ugh). I feel I definitely spoiled it as mistake, it wasn't like that in September!

Anyway, I watched some tiktok tier videos from ig and these were someone asking women in London what perfumes they use. All they mentioned, except two scents from Clarins (I didn't know about them, didn't know that Clarins has perfume range despite me using their skincare and makeup) it was all of these hype scents. Heavy modern florals, gorumands and fragnatica-core shit that has bad facismile of CDG's perfumes weird scent brand vibe. (I want to try Odeur 53, Odeur 71 and 2. These actually were first ever perfumes I considered buying before desiring typically feminine scents). No older scents, no classic old scents, no 90s or even fresh scents. It shows an issue how people have such a homogenized taste due to spoonfeeding on social media. It's like these (I want to write a longer piece about it soon) charms on bags and badly larping as Jane Birkin (who did it on her own and it was original) using tiktoks spoonfeeding how to coordinate these. It's all so fucking boring

I caved in and bought fabric I was watching before but I didn't take over 14% poly and 3% elastane. But color was so fucking good, it's a muted bright green which will be perfect for a long blazer-coat (1998-1999 is calling). Unironically these grew on me so damn much, like long skirts (but more in this neohippie and neofolky styles of same period - funny how no one revives them, these were so good. better than a*erican "whimsical gothic" thing (who fucking makes up these names. why it's a thing. just call it 90s new age witch or something. I fucking hate everything having a name these days)). I watch one suit on vinted which is olive beige but seller didn't log in... It's sad how many of them end up being badly cropped (I saw a bad case of asian inspired silk suit with long blazer being badly cropped, it was so bad) or styled in most horrid way ever if they end up being bought. For believers in ugly ass "thrift" style (it's a thing, it's bad and so weird) they usually are too fitted since they prefer drowining in 3XL men's blazers. For me tailored jackets are either perfect lenght (59-64cm) for me or bit before my skirt/dress hem (a bit above the knee). Long ones are nice, but. They need to be a right color for me to like them. Either pastels or muted brighter color, cream, beige (olive, pearl-gray beige), light to medium light gray - never would wear one in dark color honestly.

I ended on quest for linen in classic finish. I found one but I'll have to dye it (but still, it will be great for some white summer clothes - shirt dress, long dress, I also want some blouses and maybe something else? Depends if I'll fit in 2m with both pants and skirt using up my white twills). I ordered samplers from one of legendary factories from my country, which luckily still exists. But I hope it will be more densely woven and despite machine forced damage (s*ftening. linen should soften on it's own. and that softening makes them even more expensive for no reason when fabric already looks old, damaged, is matte (no nice sheen good linen has) and will be less durable. Yet people pay extra and except linen to be soft. It's why cashmere and m*rino is memed so damn much), since these if they are even "softened" or "washed" still have some sheen and are salvageable. Why I'm talking about it? I bought a fabric (not worth that money) which turned out to be worst softened crap. It was made worse by yarn it was woven from being so thick and so loosely woven. It literally looked like a rag. Instead classy, smooth linen with some sheen (like it used to be, Italians do it as it was before, Lithuanians and Belarusians give you choice) millennial women made everyone produce "softened" "stonewashed" crap which is ugly. They will virtue singal about green shit or something yet they want manufacturers to waste energy and water to soften linen and make people buy clothes that will last less but shilled as durable which is so funny. My żyrardów linen after many washes is still nice and smooth, it has it's sheen. You should iron linen anyway, since it's nicer and elegant this way, natural creases from wearing are fine, not unironed stonewashed shit. I don't get modern fashion for real.

Also there's a wasp infestation (in November!) at my family's house and my room is hit the most, I have usually 3-4 of these shits in my room despite not opening windows. Same in other room. But my stepfather thinks I lied and it pissed off my mom enough, that he denies it being a thing and something not being sealed off properly. I have to sleep in guest room now, from which I need to take my sweaters (which finally dried) and fold them. Sleeping here is better, at least I get cut off from using my computer until midnight. I hope to clean my room properly tomorrow, iron and fold newly washed fabrics. I need to wash few more. I probably will be copying patterns and cutting on weekends, on weekdays I might only copy something but never cut. It's too tiresome. I mean, only copying to paper (not adding seam allowance or hems or cutting out) is way more bearable after getting back home after work.

I took out my camera for first time since September. I took few pictures, but I don't feel enough inspired to take more.
