I ordered a gift for my mom for Mother's Day few days ago, today it came so knowing me I gave her it now as I think I wouldn't manage to wait until Sunday. I got her a new mascara as her old one was already sooo clumpy and tube was broken? You couldn't really twist it back properly to keep it from drying inside.
Recently I'm so tired that I can't even finish copying patterns from some Burda issues I borrowed from Ms. B. It turned out that I want to copy 5-8 patterns from each of these issues which is a lot and honestly it's my way of knowing that I actually should get these issues. I found two of them for a good price, but one... it's 3-5x more than mid 00s Burdas go for. It's literally listed for money that 60s and 70s issues usually go, I got my late 90s stash for funny money compared to prices they got listed for. Majority of them was new, patterns weren't even taken out from them at all. I don't know that makes people drive prices up now, I don't think you'll make a buck on clueless zoomers compared to like... western fashion magazines? Most of zoomies who sew here aren't even familiar with using Burda nowadays, as I guess they prefer to buy patterns online.
I didn't finish sewing a piece for so long, I just want to feel not tired and work on something again. Copying patterns from the sheets is such pain in the ass but it's all going smooth if you'll go through this. At least I have most of my fabric for summer clothes washed so I don't need to wait for them to dry. I was thinking about trying to find decent used sewing machine that is newer, very likely a 00s one and I don't mind it being computerized at this point. Guess even buttonholes are worth this...
I still have two books due to return to the library. I got a week left so I hope I'll manage to read both and I think I'll review them for sure.
*Despite my burning hate for current trends I sometimes check and read some magazines. Nylon is annoying though not that offensive. It was hilarious to see a piece about Yahoo! Japan Auction proxies when weebs knew about these for ages. Most of people featured in this piece were scalpers or label obsessed, like things totally must be designer and they lose their shit over diffusions. I remember how decently things were priced 5 years ago, now it's same shit as on Depop. They actually did talk to a Japanese woman in the fashion industry for another point of view and she did complain that westerners ruined the market, I feel sorry for you all dealing with this shit.
There was another piece that I've read and wtf, I'm an old lady now? It was about zoomers not using eyeshadow. It feels so wrong for me as I was taught it's important part of the makeup, it's mostly because my mom never really wore anything on her lips and I got so many of my makeup habits from watching how she did her makeup. It's weird to have fully caked on face with foundation, eyeliner and lipstick but no eyeshadow... I actually realized that I did notice it, even my younger zoomer cousin told me she has only one eyeshadow palette. It feels so weird. It feels so weird.
I wrote some makeup reviews, it was something I meant to do for ages... It's just such a fun thing to do.
